Driving Change: 5 Strategies to Help Your Employees Transform Their Commute

MBTA working on commuter rail line Saturday. Expect noise and shuttle buses.

High noise levels expected 6 a.m. to 6 p.m. on Saturday, April 14, as drilling and other work commences.

An MBTA project on the Franklin Commuter Rail Line April 14 will include rock drilling and other work in the agency's right-of-way, causing high noise levels in the area from 6 a.m. to 6 p.m. on Saturday, April 14. The project area spans Dedham, Norwood, and Walpole--between Readville and Plimptonville stations.

MassDOT and the MBTA are undertaking federally mandated positive train control (PTC) infrastructure installation, which will improve safety by reducing train collisions and derailments. Due to the equipment necessary to perform this work, high noise levels can be expected in the project area. See more information about the PTC project.

According the the MBTA website, "Weekend train service on the Franklin Line will be replaced by ADA accessible shuttle buses, making all regularly scheduled stops, between Forge Park/495 and Readville stations from April 7 through May 27. The project work will require weekend shutdowns on the line between Forge Park/495 and Readville, where passengers will connect to train service. Shuttle buses will be free and passengers will pay for train service from Readville to Boston."
